The Zenith Passage Unveil New Single 'Fleshbound Reliquary' and Music Video
The Zenith Passage have re-emerged with a new single, Fleshbound Reliquary, marking their first new material since 2023 and their maiden release as drummer Max Sepulveda rejoined the lineup in October 2024.
Produced by Dave Otero (Cattle Decapitation, Archspire), the track signifies a return to form for the progressive death metal outfit, which teamed up with the seasoned producer to craft a cohesive and formidable sonicscape.
The lyrics of 'Fleshbound Reliquary' serve as a reflection on an existence where resources have been exhaustively depleted, necessitating the individual to seek sustenance from their own means of production.
Frontman Derek Rydquist expounded on the song's thematic undertones: This world and existence are one where we're faced with an existential crisis. Our primary focus shifted inward to ensure our survival in a future devoid of external support. It speaks to a pressing issue within contemporary society, echoing our relentless pursuit for sustainability and the dwindling availability of vital resources.
Guitarist Justin McKinney provided additional insight into the composition of 'Fleshbound Reliquary,' stating: As we structured this track, we aimed to create an aesthetically complex soundscape that resonates deeply with our fanbase's affinity for intricate music arrangements. Our lyrical approach was intentional in highlighting a critical concern environmental degradation and human survival strategies in the face of scarcity and as this narrative is encapsulated within the rhythm and melodies, both will unfold organically throughout our forthcoming material.
Following its premiere, 'Fleshbound Reliquary' debuted live at multiple performances spanning the band's North American outing with Entheos and Fallujah. Tracheotomy serves as the main headliner for this tour, which draws to a close on December 6 in Nashville, TN The End.
