Hellripper Announces New Studio Album 'Coronach', Shares New Music Video 'Hundeprest'

Scotland's ibex-obsessed blackened thrash bastards Hellripper are pleased to announce their upcoming fourth studio album 'Coronach', set for release worldwide on March 27th, 2026 via Century Media Records.

Traditionally, 'Coronach' was recorded and mixed by Hellripper's James McBain at Coronach Studios in Scotland and then mastered by Damien Herring at Subterranean Watchtower Studios in the USA. The cover artwork was created by Adam Burke / Nightjar Illustration.

To highlight the album announcement, a new single and video for the opening track 'Hunderprest' is now available. The song features a chaotic deluge of dissonance, inspired by the legend of Hunderprest, or 'dog priest', a vampire from Scottish folklore. The lyrics draw parallels between this mythological figure and other dark tales from Scottish history and literature.

Hellripper's mastermind James McBain comments on 'Hunderprest':

'This track hits immediately with a chaotic deluge of dissonance, and is what I felt to be the perfect way to open the album leaving the listener with no time to prepare. Inspired by themes from Scottish lore and literature, such as Pictish mysteries, Victorian Gothic literature, and sinister tales, the song combines elements of thrash and black metal with atmospheric d-beat elements. The title 'Hunderprest' is derived from this legend, a vampire said to haunt the graveyard of Melrose Abbey.

Claire added:

'This album is a personal exploration of Scottish culture its music, literature, history & folklore. Through various narratives and sounds inspired by anything from Venom to Opeth, film scores and traditional Scottish music, this album represents my own interpretation of Scotland's rich heritage in speed metal form.'

The tracklisting for 'Coronach' includes:

1. Hunderprest

2. Kinchyle (Goatkraft and Granite)

3. The Art of Resurrection

4. Baobhan Sith (Waltz of the Damned)

5. Blakk Satanik Fvkkstorm

6. Sculptor's Cave

7. Mortercheyn

8. Coronach

This album, named after the traditional Scottish lament, marks a fusion of modern and old-school influences, past and present storytelling, dark historical references, and McBain's personal perspective on Scotland's history.
