Biography
1349 was formed in Norway in 1997, precisely in Alvheim, from the initiative of Tjalve (guitars) and Seidemann (bass) who met Balfori who would also perform guitar in the formation. As a result, the band recorded a demo that would never see the light of day and already imposed a first line-up change: Balfori left the band who did not like the musical direction he took. A certain Archaon is then engaged and allows the trio to record Chaos Prefferred , a second demo that truly shows the band's potential and desires. With an extremely violent black metal and a desire to push the limits of the ferocity of the genre through a supersonic speed, the group stands out from its compatriots while keeping a very Norwegian spirit and atmosphere. It is at this very moment that the band will experience the greatest turning point of its career by recruiting the living legend of Frost (Satyricon) the time of an ep, the fastest black drummer in Norway or even in the world. This one, so excited by what he hears from the 1349 demo, even wants to become a permanent member of the band, which the combo obviously does not say no. Thanks to a real drummer and above all a grand aura, the band arouses a special interest, and the eponymous one that comes out in 2001 greatly helps the combo to get out of anonymity instantly and to sign at the prestigious Candlelight Records label. From then on, the route of the albums is wide open: 1349 released in 2003 Liberation , burnout black metal with unheard of violence, at the very hallucinating speed and with the cracked sides and integrates very Norwegian. 1349 stands out here from groups like Dark Funeral, more smooth and inclined to compose brutal hymns but also very clean on themselves. The continuation is only logical for this group that only has to exploit the line that he himself created. Thus follow in the same registry Beyond The Apocalypse (2004) and Hellfire (2005), still at Candlelight Records. For four years, the band focused on the various tours and other projects (Satyricon for Frost). Running 2009, the combo surprises everyone with Revelation Of The Black Flame , which is moving towards a dark and nauseating Black Metal Ambiant, far from the primary brutality of previous opus. 2010 sees the return of 1349 with Demonoir , a mix between the ambient parts and the brutality of previous releases.
It should be noted that the surname of 1349 is a reference to the year in which the black plague spread across Europe, particularly in Norway, contaminating more than two thirds of the country.
