Biography

3 Doors Down was born in 1996 in Escatawpa, Mississippi and consists of a group of friends: Brad Arnold (song and drums at the beginning of the band), Todd Harrell (bass), and Matt Roberts (guitar). The band toured locally and was quickly joined by Chris Henderson on the second guitar. The band recorded a first demo featuring their future hit Kryptonite . Kenny Vest, programmer of Biloxi's WCPR radio station, hears the title and the program in loop. He will then put the band in touch with their future (and current) label, Republic Records. Their first album, The Better Life , was released in early 2000 and success will not be expected thanks to the singles Kryptonite , Loser , Duck and Run and Be Like That (which will appear on the BO of American Pie 2). The band handed over the cover in 2002 with Away From The Sun who had the same fate. On it is Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle) on drums and Alex Lifeson ( Rush) on guitar on 3 tracks. At the end of 2003, 3 Doors Down will host their first support concert for their charity The Better Life Foundation. In 2005 released their third album, Seventeen Days and toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their drummer Daniel Adair left the band to join Nickelback and Greg Upchurch (Puddle Of Mudd) took his place. Their fourth album, eponymous, was released in 2008 and at the end of 2009 the band paid for the luxury of releasing a Christmas song with Where My Christmas Lives. After a fifth album in 2011, Time Of My Life , and a tour with ZZ Top , 3 Doors Down released The Greatest Hits in 2012, including some unreleased tracks including One Light. That same year guitarist Matt Roberts announced his departure from the band for health reasons and was replaced by their former guitar tech, Chett Roberts. In April 2013, bassist Todd Harrell was involved in a fatal road accident and was held in custody. The band canceled a series of concerts in the United States out of respect for the victim's family, and in May 2013 the band announced Justin Biltonen's arrival as bassist. In early 2014, the band announced the upcoming release of their sixth album and set out on an acoustic tour. Todd Harrell was arrested again for driving under the influence of narcotics and was permanently fired from the group. Us And The Night will finally be released on March 11, 2016.
