30 000 Monkies
Biography
Originally from Beringen, Belgium, 30,000 Monkies was founded in 2011 by Michael De Naegel (Guitare), Ruben Savelkoul (Guitare / Chant / Claviers), Igor Vuch (Basse) and Michael Nicolai (Batterie). They quickly released the ep Womb Eater Wife Beater the same year. Ward Beerten replaced Michael Nicolai on the drums for the next ep, Somewhere Over The Painbow, which was released in 2013, and Dries Schreurs replaced Ward on his turn and that's how 30,000 Monkies released his first album, I Ate Myself To Grow Twice As Big, in 2016 via Consumption Sounds and unveiled a Sludge / Noise with Doom Metal and Drone aspects. But the line-up is once again upset. 30,000 Monkies recorded an ep Drone, Watch The Dr((o))ne , which appeared in 2016 at Tartarus Records, but without drummer and Igor at bass left the band before recording the 2017 ep Starrrrrrrring. Cyriel Beerten (Basse) and Mattias Jonniaux (Batterie) recomplete the line-up and the quartet recorded the album Are Forever in 2019. Always looking for experiments and reluctant to stay on the path of the Sludge / Doom, 30,000 Monkies continued his work of clearing with Honesty Integrity Friendship Passion in 2022.
