Adolescents
Biography
American group formed at Fullerton (Ca.) in 1980. With the Bad Brains , Minor Threat and many others, The Adolescents are considered to be one of the major bands in the punk scene of the Eighties.
The formation was born after Agent Orange's departure in December 1979. The original line up included Tony Cadena (song), Steve Soto (bass), Frank Agnew (guitar), John Donovan (guitar) and Peter Pan on drums. The band's first seven, entitled "Amoeba" the same year at Posh Boy Records. The Adolescents signed with Frontier Records in January 1981 and recorded their first eponymous album the following month. Success is on the table. Californians separated in August 1981. Cadena form The Abandoned, Soto and Agnew join Legal Weather, Royer form DI and Rikk Agnew joins Christian Death. We must wait until 1986 to hear again about The Adolescents. The group is re-emerging under the original line up. Not for long. Before recording a new album, Royer and Agnew left the boat, both replaced by Sandy Hansen and Alfie. Brats in Battalion was released in August 1987. At the end of 1986, Alfie returned to university and gave way to Dan Colburn for a few months. Then Colburn and Cadena drop it. In 1988, Agnew and Soto recruited Paul Casey, but after four months he was forced to pack. After a tour, The Adolescents exit Balboa Fun Zone. The group splits a second time in April 1989.
The Adolescents reworked in 2001 to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of first album. Four years later, O.C. Confidential at Finger Records. A new opus should be born by next year.
