Agnostic Front
Biography
Roger Miret : singing Vinnie Stigma : guitar Joseph James : guitar Mike Gallo : bass Steve Gallo : drums
Although Vinnie Stigma founded Agnostic Front in New York in 1982, the encounter with Roger Miret is the true starting point for a long career with ups and downs and with endless changes in musicians. After the release of the United Blood mini album in 1983, Rob Kabula (low) and Dave Jones (battery) joined the band for the recording of Victim in Pain a year later. A 15-minute missile, this album is considered a classic hardcore punk. At this time Agnostic Front shares the poster with Minor Threat, SS-Decontrol, and Californian bands Dead Kennedys and Black Flag.
For the recording of the second album, Agnostic Front recruits another guitarist, Alex Kinon and replaces Dave Jones with Louie Beatto. But the atmosphere isn't good-looking. No one seems to be concerned about the future of the group, and only Vinnie Stigma keeps the ship floating. Cause for Alarm appeared at the cost of many efforts in 1986. With this album, Agnostic Front takes a much more metal direction asserting itself as one of the lances of the crossover with D.R.I. and, in the wake, continues a tour with Slayer and Anthrax. Liberty and Justice for... is registered in 1987 with a completely recomposed line up. Louie Beatto joined Carnivore and Peter Steele. Alex Kinon vanishes into nature. To replace them, Stigma and Miret recruited guitarist Steve Martin, Will Shepler on drums and bassist Alan Peters. In 1989, Agnostic Front decided to immortalize its stage performance on the album Live at the CBGB'S with Craig Setari ex-bassist of Straight Ahead and Youth of Today.
The following years the group was forced to take a break, partly due to the imprisonment of Roger Miret. Upon his release, he felt the need to share his experience. Agnostic Front released the album One Voice in 1992, but the tandem Stigma/Miret throws the sponge shortly after a farewell tour concluded by recording a live album, Last Warning . Stigma, Shepler and Matt Henderson, who participated in the recording of One Voice, joined Madball and Craig Setari was recruited by Sick Of It All.
However, Stigma and Miret cannot resolve to live long away from Agnostic Front. The binome surrounds drummer Jim Colletti and bassist Rob Kabula, companions of the beginnings of Agnostic Front, to revive the flame. The band's return takes place through the Epitaph label on which the album Something Gonna Give was released in 1998. Agnostic Front reconnects with the hardcore punk of its beginnings and regains a second youth. In 1999, Agnostic Front recorded the album Riot Riot Upstarts and, in 2001, Dead Yuppies with bassist Mike Gallo. A live split entitled Working Class Heroes was released in 2002 with the Dutch discipline. We must wait until 2004 and their dismissal by Epitaph before the new Yorkais return to the studio. After signing a deal with Nuclear Blast, Agnostic Front recorded Another Voice with James Jasta, followed in 2007 by Warriors.
