Ahab
Biography
Ahab is a band formed in 2004 in Esslingen (Germany) by Stephan Adolph (bass, guitar, singing), Daniel Droste (song, guitar, keyboards) and Chris R. Hector (guitar, Midnattsol, Penetralia). It could only be another Funeral Doom formation, however the group draws its pin from the game thanks to a very personal concept. Indeed, the band's name is in reference to the demented captain who pursues Moby Dick in Melville's novel, and all the lyrics and artworks refer to this titanic struggle. It takes only one year for the band to release a first demo, The Oath, which, although only thirty copies, receives an enthusiastic welcome from the Doom scene. This disc shows the officiating formation in an incredibly heavy and massive Funeral Doom and nevertheless barred atmospheres, close to Tyranny. The band returned to the studio after a few concerts, notably at the Doom Shall Rise IV , and his first album, The Call Of The Wretched Sea , was released on September 29, 2006 and was a hit in the underground. After a rerun of his demo at Nothingness Records , the band turned intensely, before finally returning to the studio for recording a second opus. The Divinity of Oceans was born in 2009. It was in 2012 that Ahab , now well installed in the Doom landscape, released his third album, The Giant , at Napalm Records.
