Biography

Alien Ant Farm formed in 1995 in California, after two EPs ( Singles: $100 EP and Love Songs EP) they independently released their first album Greatest Hits in 1999. In 2000 their friendship with Papa Roach allows them to hold a contract with DreamWorks Records (AFI , Papa Roach , Rise Against , ...), their first effort on this label will be ANThology in 2001. The album surfs on the neo/pop metal wave and becomes a platinum disc thanks to the success of Smooth Criminal ( Michael Jackson ). The band is then present on several BOs (including Spiderman) and begins to make a name worldwide. A bus accident in Spain will mark the group and will affect in particular Dryden Mitchell (singer) who can walk again thanks to an operation but retains some sequelae. In 2003 released truANT , produced by Robert and Dean DeLeo ( Stone Temple Pilots ), the album starts well but the shutdown of the record company Dreamworks two months after the release slows down sales. In the wake Terry Corso left the band (for Powerman 5000 ). Taken in different legal lines between their former record company (purchased by Universal Music) and their new (Geffen) the band wants to release an album with the producer of their indes, but the record company prevents them. The band will distrubu his album to the fans during concerts, so we can find it under the name "3rd Draft". After having the green light to release their album they record an additional track and release in 2006 Up in the Attic (which will not meet the success of previous albums). Tye Zamora (bass) left the band to resume her studies and was replaced by Alex Barreto ( Inside Out, Chain of Strength , Hardstance ). After a long time without news the group announces its return with the original line up.
