Amen
Biography
Casey Chaos, the charismatic leader of Amen is from New York but spends most of his childhood in Florida, where he starts a career as a professional skateboarder very young. After many accidents and health problems, he abandoned this path to devote himself to music. A Black Flag concert with Henry Rollins (Rollins Band ...) will change his life, so he becomes a musician and records a first demo named Atrocity before moving to California. He played bass in the legendary Christian Death band and then formed Disorderly Conduct with whom he recorded a single album. It was in 1994 that Amen was finally born, composed only of Casey Chaos and a drummer who recorded to them two demos ( Slave , Lost Album ...). In 1999 the line up is composed of Paul Fig and Sonny Mayo (ex Snot ) on guitars, John ‘Tumor' Fahnestock (ex Snot again) on bass, Shannon Larkin behind the drums and of course on Casey Chaos singing. The band signed at Roadrunner Records to release their eponymous album, produced by Ross Robinson ( Sepultura , Fear Factory , Machine Head , The Cure ) soon after it was released. This latter yet very good bill has no success, totally overshadowed by another big release of Roadrunner, Slipknot's eponymous album. We have come for your parents, their second effort, still produced not Ross Robinson released in 2000 on the Virgin label, has a little more success. In 2001 Paul Fig left the group for financial reasons, and joined Bluebird . He was quickly replaced by Canadian Rich Jones (Black Halo). Between 2001 and 2003 there were many changes within the band, as well as a European tour, the band recorded an album for Virgin that the label would never release and would not agree to sell (at least not at an affordable price for an indie label). The year 2004 saw the release of the latest album from Amen , Death Before Musick produced by Daron Malakian ( System Of A Down ) on his own label EatUrMusic. Casey Chaos released in 2005 the album of his side-project, Scum, which combines the cream of the Norwegian Black Metal scene including Samoth and Faust by Emperor and Cosmocrator by Mindgrinder, but also Euroboy and Happy Tom by Turbonegro. Some see in Amen the succession of the Punk Rock after the legends of Iggy Pop&The Stooges or the Sex Pistols and even Henry Rollins (Black Flag , Rollins Band ) assert: "I wish I was in this band".
