Amiina

Amiina (formerly Amína) met in the 1990s at the Reykjavík College of Music, these four young ladies played violin, cello and made themselves known as a companion of Sigur Ros during the band's tours (where they played on stage with the band) and in studio (from ( )). They will also make the first part of the band tour for Takk and two of the 4 members will lend a hand to Efterklang. In 2004 the band released its first effort outside the Sigur Ros universe, this EP ( AnimaminA ) opens their doors to American labels with a single ( Seoul ) in 2007 and in 2007 Kurr (singing birds in Icelandic) on their own label (Bláskjár), the band's first album. Musically the band borrows clearly from the nebula Sigur Ros to which it brings a new breath, more electro and with the use of multiple instruments (violons and cellos of course, but also musical saw, cithar, mandolin, harp, glockenspiel, marimbula, harp of glasses, ...).
