Biography

An Abstract Illusion was formed in Sweden in Luleå in 2007 by Karl Westerlund (Basse / Guitar). With the help of Fredrik Kruse (Chant), Tobias Larsson (Basse), Daniel Johansson (Battery) and Martin Strandell (Guitare), the now quintet begins to repeat but is not very productive in its first years and faces recurring line-up changes. Robert Stenvall also arrived in 2009 to sing and keyboard. Christian Berglönn arrived to replace Daniel in 2010. Fredrik left the band in 2012. Still with five musicians, Karl, Robert, Christian, Tobias and Martin manage to record a first self-produced ep in 2014 entitled, Atonement Is Night and which already bears witness to an ambitious group and applied through a melodic and atmospheric progressive death metal carefully and worked. However, line-up changes continue and An Abstract Illusion loses two short-haul musicians: Tobias and Martin at the end of 2014. Some musicians will do many tests between 2014 and 2014 such as Hugo Larsson (Basse), Simon Björkén (Batterie) or Marcus Ek (Guitare), but in 2016 the project crystallised around the trio and original members Karl Westerlund (Basse / Guitar), Robert Stenvall (Chant / Claviers) and Christian Berglönn (Batterie / Chant) and thus appeared their first album, Illuminate The Path in 2016. If the band starts to talk about him in the underground, it is really with Woe and a signature at Willowtip Records that An Abstract Illusion really starts to make a place on the international scene, especially since their approach to Death Metal Progressive, technical and melodic is ambitious, spontaneous and successful.
