Anaal Nathrakh

Anaal Nathrakh is an extreme metal nihilist band originally from Birmingham and composed from the trio Irrumator (Basse / Guitar / Programming), V.I.T.R.I.O.L. (Chant) and Leicia (Basse). Its name comes from the magic formula " Anál nathrach, orth' bhais's bethad, do chel denmha " pronounced by Merlin in John Boorman's movie, Excalibur dating back to 1981 and meaning "the breath of the serpent" in ancient Irish. Anaal Nathrakh began a Raw Black Metal band in 1998 and recorded two demos: Anaal Nathrakh and Total Fucking Necro in 1999. The following year, Leicia left the group, which would now remain in the form of a duo, apart from its few live performances. Their first album, The Codex Necro, was released in 2001 by Mordgrimm, followed by the ep When Fire Rains Down From The Sky, Mankind Will Reap As It Has Sown in 2003. Anaal Nathrakh then evolves as a band of brutal black metal inspired by formations like Mayhem or Darkthrone, but in 2004, with the release of Domine Non Es Dignus at Season Of Mist, the English duo takes a new direction by mixing Grindcore / Death Metal / Metal Indus and Black Metal. What was to remain exclusively as a studio project, eventually evolves and Anaal Nathrakh performs his first concert on 15 December 2005, followed the next day by a date with Narcosis and Ramesses. In 2006, the band released Eschaton in the same vein as the previous album with the appearance of Shane Embury ( Napalm Death ) and Attila Csihar ( Mayhem ) on some tracks. Anaal Nathrakh continued with Hell Is Empty And All The Devils Are Here in 2007 at Feto Records and In The Constellation Of The Black Widow at Candlelight Records. In 2011, Anaal Nathrakh released an album more accessible than before, Passion , followed the following year by Vanitas, both of which were published via Candlelight Records.
