Biography

Born in 1979 in Topeka (Kansas), Andy began playing acoustic guitar at the age of 13. Shortly afterwards, Andy obtained his first electric guitar and reproduced the standards of his favourite bands (Metallica , Eric Johnson , Joe Satriani and Dream Theater ). At the age of 16, Andy discovered solo artists such as Michael Hedges, Don Ross and Billy McLaughlin. The latter are now claimed as its main influences. At 20, Andy McKee composed his first songs and released a first album in 2001 entitled Nocturne . That same year he finished 3rd in a national acoustic guitar competition, making him the youngest to be ranked in the top 3. In 2003, Andy McKee began performing abroad, notably in Taiwan alongside Jacques Stotzem, Isato Nakagawa and Masaaki Kishibe. His taste for experimentation led him to play with a particular instrument, hybrid of a harp and a guitar. His second album, Dreamcatcher , was released in 2004. He followed the following year with the impressive Art Of Motion, revealing exceptional talent and technicality.
