Animal Collective
Biography
Quatuor, then trio (with the departure of Deakin in 2007), Animal Collective took its origins in 2000 in Maryland under the leadership of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Geologist (Brian Weitz) and Deakin (Josh Dibb). After various albums under different names, the band released its first album Here Comes the Indian under the name we know it, in 2003. Presenting to the general public a first glimpse of his psychedelic pop, Animal Collective plays a dense music, rich in effects, lost in a magma of noise effects.
The following year, Sun Tongs was the new fruit of the collaboration between Avey Tare and Panda Bear to come out, still exotically rich in colours. Supported by the FatCat Records label, the band makes the first parts of múm and Four Tet. Occasions during which Avey Tare meets Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir , one of the former voices of the Icelandic group with which he marries and signs, in 2007, Pullhair Rubeye , which has the peculiarity of being able to be listened to in normal reading, back or fast reading.
In 2007, two events for the band and its members, since in September, Strawberry Jam was released and echoed the solo album of Panda Bear , Person Pitch , more intimate and reserved in its sounds. After a big tour, Deakin left the band and the trio returned to the studio to record the EP Water Curses in 2008. Merriweather Post Pavilion is the band's latest album to date. Various songs had already filtered during concerts and, even before its release, it had been made best album of 2009 (!).
