Anneke Van Giersbergen
Biography
A Dutch singer and musician, Anneke Van Giersbergen is best known for being part of The Gathering , a band that she left in August 2007 for a performance on stage at the Ankkarock festival in Finland, after thirteen years of collaboration with the Rutten brothers, she wants to embark on a solo career. Things don't work out, since just two months after her departure, she released her first Air essay under the name Agua De Annique, an album of which several tracks will be recorded on Pure Air which will be released in 2009, compilation of semi-acoustic tracks (with guests like Danny Cavanagh , Arjen Lucassen , Sharon den Adel ...) on which we also find such covers as Damien Rice's The Blower's Daughter , Valley of the Queens of Ayreon , Alanis Morissette's Ironic or Somewhere of Within Temptation ; on this occasion the name of the project evolves to become Anneke Van Giersbergen With Agua De Annique . If Air was still not quite stunned with relancies leaving a clear reflection on The Gathering, with its successor In Your Room coming out in 2009, it's much less obvious, the general atmosphere being much more pop, Anneke is responsible for the composition of ten of the twelve titles, the two exceptions being Just Fine (with Devin Townsend ), and Adore (with Jacques de Haard and Cyril Crutz ), the activity is charged this year, but she will still find time to record a live (having taken place in March at the Little Devil in Tilburg) in duet with Danny Cavanagh of Anathema , on which the two artists travel their careers for a striking result. A year will pass before Anneke releases Live In Europe , composed of songs recorded at various concerts on the old continent. We are in 2012, the lady is now signed by Pias , and performs under her only name Anneke Van Giersbergen , an opus is on track, Everything Is Changing once again marks a course with the two previous studio releases, if the catchy pop rock recipe is always more or less the same, the rhythm is much more energetic and the overall rendering much cooler and more mordant than on In Your Room , the main explanation being that the production and part of the compositions are the work of Daniel Cardoso (anathema's live clavierist ). As early as 2013 business resumes, an album named Drive is asleep and already announced for September... Stay Tuned.
