Anorexia Nervosa
Biography
Anorexia Nervosa was born in June 1995 on the ashes of Necromancia. It was during a concert in the South of France that Michael Berberian of Season Of Mist noticed the band and offered them a contract for an album. Their first album, Exile , was released in 1997, recorded at LB Studio, produced by Stéphane Buriez. Quite distant from Metal, Exile is a concept-album based on the theme of neurosis and denial of existence. However, the period after Exile's release is that of the questioning for Anorexia Nervosa . Some members wanted to continue on the path of experimentation, which was not the opinion of the majority of the group. This led to the departure of Stéphane Gerbaud and Marc Zabé in early 1998. Anorexia Nervosa then takes advantage of this period to forge her current style, the real "Dark Nihilistic Metal". A fast, superpowering, orchestral, monumental metal, more representative of their intentions and their romantic-nihilist lifestyle. It then takes the group a year to write and refine their compositions to perfection before deciding to record the Sodomizing The Archangel ep at Drudenhaus Studio in February 1999, after recruiting two new members: Hreidmarr (Chant) and Neb Xort (Claviers). This recording, intended to be a taste of the next album, allows the band to sign a contract with the flagship label of Extreme Metal, Osmose Productions, and the public to become familiar with its new musical orientation. Since three albums have been released, and Anorexia Nervosa is one of the most recognized bands on the French scene.
