Anubis Gate
Biography
Anubis Gate was formed in 2003 in Denmark, while the original members had long known each other. Jesper Jensen, Morten Sørensen, and Torben Askholm, the original trio, hired Henrick Fevre as additional musicians on bass and Kim Olesen on guitars without the latter officially integrating the project. Together, they released Purification in 2004. Finally, the two free electrons joined Anubis Gate in 2005. The quintet will publish A Perfect Forever in September 2005. Right after his release, the singer Torben Askholm leaves the band. The first concerts date back to this time and are performed in quartet, Henrick Fevre performing in addition to his bass parts. In 2006, producer Jacob Hansen was recruited as a singer. Andromeda Unchained is marketed in 2007. While keeping a Power-Metal base, the album is more progressive than the first two, notably by the presence of a script. Just under two years later, Anubis Gate released The Detached in spring 2009, with the same line-up and musical intensities. It is again a concept album and the sound of the band is increasingly technical and precise. In 2011, while the fifth album was being written, the singer Jacob Hansen announced that he was leaving the band. He'll be the producer of the next records. As in 2005, Henrick Fevre took on the role of lead singer again: the band became the same quartet as during these first concerts (Anubis Gate made it a small handful, and sometimes no concert was played between two albums). The fifth album, eponymous, was released in late 2011. Always progressive, but more mature, thoughtful, less Power-Metal, it incorporates a nostalgic dimension to the music of the band, which is charged with emotions. Two founding members stopped the adventure in 2012. Jesper Jensen was replaced on guitar by Michael Bodin (Third Eye), while drummer Morten Sørensen left his place to his homonym Morten G. Sørensen (Pyramaze). In spring 2013, the band announced that it was working on a sixth album with this new line-up. The album must be called Horizons and released at the end of 2013. Finally, the album is delayed, but on October 31, 2013, the band offered the free download of their first EP, Sheep (always available here). It contains, among other things: Sheep by Pink Floyd and Broken Wings by Mr. Mister . The album Horizons was released on April 15, 2014. Its strong emotional component is in line with Anubis Gate.
