Arafel
Biography
Arafel, which means fog in Hebrew, was created in 1997 in Tel Aviv, Israel. The band began playing a Black-Metal influenced by traditional Slavic music and recorded a first demo four tracks in 1999: Skazki Starogo Lesa . After a few local concerts and a new line-up, Arafel recorded his first concept album, The Way Of Defender , based on the Grand Duke of Russia of the 13th century, Alexander Nevsky. Released from Sound Age Records, Israelis are starting to make a name for themselves in the underground environment. A second opus was released in 2004 through The Flame Of The Ages, which confirms Arafel's potential. Distributed in Germany, Austria and Sweden, it is surprisingly one of the most sold albums in Israel of all time. In 2009, Arafel recruited Helge Stang the singer of Equilibrium into his ranks and released For Battles Once Fought at Noise Art Records two years later. He takes part in the 2011 Pagan Fest Tour alongside great names such as Korpiklaani, Unleashed, Moonsorrow, Eluveitie or Varg.
