Biography

Arkan is a French band from Metal Extreme, born in 2005 under the leadership of Foued, who is also a founding member of The Old Dead Tree. The aim of the latter is to create a group that will combine Metal and Eastern influence. Very quickly Foued is joined by Mus, Samir and Florent, the combo composes his first work, a rather brutal EP called Burning Flesh (2006). Thanks to this first effort Arkan shares the stage with Decapitated , Dagoba and Hacride before getting ready to write their first album. It was released in 2008 and is called Hilal , it was recorded at Fredman Studio and was produced by Fredrik Nordström (In Flames , Dimmu Borgir , Arch Enemy , Soilwork , Dark Tranquility , Septic Flesh , At The Gates ). Less direct, this opus lays the bases of Arkan style with a Death-oriented Metal combined with eastern atmospheres. For the promotion of Hilal , Arkan toured with Orphaned Land during 2009. In 2011 the French are back in the bins with a brand new work named Salam. In 2014 Sofia , still produced at Fredman Studio, this album aims to be rich in melodies and harmonies, the vocals are almost exclusively feminine and are provided by Sarah Layssac. Very productive, Arkan signed back in 2016 with Kelem, the song is now performed by Manuel Munoz (The Old Dead Tree).
