Biography

Árstíðir ("seasons" in Icelandic) is a band playing an independent Folk of classical music, born in 2008 in Reykjavik. Initially in the form of a trio, led by Daniel Auðunsson, Gunnar Már Jakobsson and Ragnar Ólafsson. The influences are varied, sometimes playing a folk pop sometimes melancholic, sometimes performing chamber music full of sweetness, all carried by voices sung in harmonics, and this by all members of the band. With five albums at their disposal (including a collaboration with singer Anneke Van Giersbergen), Árstíðir is evolving and becoming known within the scene (including winning a Folk music prize in Germany), and signs his latest album Nivalis in 2018 at Season Of Mist.
