Asparagus was initially a side project of 3 members from 3 different groups: Shinobu Watanabe (Captain Hedge Hog , RIP), Junichirou Yamashita (Nice Marbles ) and Masakazu Ichinose ( Popcatcher ). The trio gathered in Yokohama in February 2002. Before the end of the same year, they released Tiger Style's first self-produced album. While some of the members are working within their respective band, they find time to compose two albums that release on the same day but on two different labels: Kappa I is for 3p3b Records while Kappa II is reserved for Pizza Of Death Records (label of Ken Yokoyama, Hi-Standard). The band becomes a priority for each of the members and they invest in tours with some important sizes of J Rock and J Punk ( Beat Crusaders, Oceanlane, Ken Yokoyama, Wrong Scale, Husking Bee, Slime Ball, The Band Apart etc.). In August 2006 they participated in the prestigious Rock In Japan festival.
