At The Gates

Quintet from Gothenberg, Sweden, At The Gates was born in 1990 on the ashes of Grotesque. The band will soon release its first album The Red In The Sky Is Ours in, not without passing through the demo box. Large productivity for Swedish people who will keep a fast pace from one exit per year until split in 1995. Alf Svensson, one of the founding members who had previously done a great writing work for the band, will leave the adventure of the end of the recording of the second album, continuing with other artistic desires with Oxiplegatz. Far from having the effects we could have imagined, this departure coincides with the explosion of the career of At The Gates which, although already endowed with a well-known solid, will totally impose itself as a reference of the Death Mélodic on Terminal Spirit, but above all via Slaughter Of The Soul, its last studio production published in 1995. A very striking album considered by many as the Grail in the matter of extreme melodic metal and which is for many in the appearance of a typical sound to the Swedish scene of which they are with In Flames or Dark Tranquility one of the references. In spite of this, the band will split up in 1996, especially giving birth to The Haunted while the singer would multiply his projects (Disfear , Skitsystem , The Crown ....). A compilation was created in 2001 without the group no longer having any activity. In 2007, At The Gates broke expectations and announced a stage reformation and festival tour for the summer of 2008. Nothing has been composed since then, however, the group considering Slaughter Of The Soul as a sort of outcome. In 2014 At The Gates made its return with the album At War With Reality, which is praised by all critics.
