Atrocity
Biography
Atrocity formed in Germany in 1985 around Alexander Krull (song/keyboards), who will be the only permanent member, and Mathias Röderer (guitar, until 2010). The band first appeared in a Grindcore register before moving towards a more traditional Death Metal with the first two albums Hallucinations (1990) and Todessehnsucht (1992). As early as 1994 and Blut's album, Atrocity chose not to stay locked in style and will experiment with various genres throughout his career. Later that year, Thorsten Bauer took up the position of second guitarist, which he still held today (in addition to managing bass since 2013). 1995 is the year of collaborations, with the release of the acoustic record Calling The Rain with Yasmin Krull (Alexander's sister), as well as Die Liebe with the German Cold Wave band Das Ich. The following albums only confirm this desire to experiment, sometimes at the risk of misleading fans. Willenskraft , in 1996, revealed a strong Indus penchant, while Werk 80 , the following year, consisted of covers of popular titles from the 80s ( Frankie Goes To Hollywood , Gloria Jones ...). In 2003, the entire band joined singer Liv Kristine (then Alexander Krull's wife) to found Leaves' Eyes but does not cease activities as an Atrocity. Released in 2004, Atlantis is more oriented Death Mélodic / Symphony. He was followed in 2008 by Werk 80 II (in line with the first), then a second collaboration with Yasmin Krull, After The Storm in 2010. In 2013, Death Metal Symphony Okkult's album was announced as the first in a trilogy, the second part of which was released in 2018, foreshadowed by the EP Masters Of Darkness released in late 2017.
