Biography

Barren Earth is a Finnish progressive death metal band founded in 2007 by bassist Olli-Pekka Laine (Amorphis). He is surrounded by drummer Marko Tarvonen ( Moonsorrow , October Falls ), guitarists Janne Perttilä ( Põhjast ) and Sami Yli-Sirniö (Kreator ), keyboardist Kasper Mårtenson (Turisas , ex-Amorphis ) and singer Mikko Kotamäki ( Kuolemanlaakso , Swallow The Sun ). A first demo recorded in 2008 leads to a signature on the Peaceville Records label; The EP Our Twilight was released in 2009, followed by Curse Of The Red River in 2010 and The Devil's Resolve in 2012. In 2013, Mikko Kotamäki left the band and was replaced by the Faroese singer Jón Aldará ( Hamferð ). It is under this new line-up that Barren Earth signs at Century Media Records and records On Lonely Towers (2015). In 2017, new change with the departure of the keyboardist and his replacement by Antti Myllynen (ex-Path Of Annihilation ). The fourth album, A Complex Of Cages , was released in March 2018.
