Bedemon
Biography
Bedemon was never a group in the traditional sense of the term, but rather a kind of playground for the members of Pentagram. It all starts at the beginning of the 70s, shortly after the formation of Pentagram . Before joining the band, Randy Palmer (guitar) wants to do things on his side first, without starting a band, just for fun. With his friend Mike Matthews (bass), Geof O'Keefe (battery, guitar) and Bobby Liebling (singing), the last two already playing in Pentagram, they are trying to work on some of Palmer's own compositions. From this first rehearsal will be born three titles, Child of Darkness , Serpent Venom , and Frozen Fear composed by O For the anecdote, to find something other than "Randy's project" as a patronymic, Bedemon will be chosen during a rehearsal where Palmer who, hesitant between "Behemoth" and "Demon", will share his dilemma with Liebling who will answer "heh, what?" Bedemehemon!"... true. The band will meet sporadically until 1986, sometimes with other Pentagram musicians, and will give birth to a number of songs, some of which, such as Touch the Sky and Starlady, will be on Pentagram albums. Then nothing. Bedemon returns from nowhere in the early 2000s, invoked by fans who became very numerous although the "group" had never been released (moult bootlegs circulating for a long time), but also and especially thanks to Perry Grayson, a journalist and musician who had nothing to do with the band. All is played in 2001 when the sieur contacted three of the original members of the training to interview them. It is on this occasion that the three meet and have the idea to rework all their compositions and, why not, finally get something out. Unfortunately, Palmer will be hit by a car and died in 2002 before seeing his wish fulfilled. Finally, Child of Darkness : From the Original Master Tapes was released in 2005, consisting of about fifteen recorded titles at a time when to another. The latest information about the band shows Craig Junghandel's recruitment to singing and possible work in view of a new album, but nothing is sure. Anyway Bedemon , a polycephalous musical entity, has now become a cult within the Doom scene, and its extraordinary story is full of anecdotes and legendary stories very well told on its official site.
