Benighted
Biography
Benighted is a group formed in 1998 in the vicinity of Saint-Etienne. They debuted with a good Black / Death Metal and released their first eponymous album in 2000. In March 2002, after a few line-up problems, the band released its second album Psychose , which allows it to become known from the French scene. After a long tour with Furia and Carcariass, the band entered the studio in Germany to record its new album: Insane Cephalic Production. Released in 2004, the album is excellent and propels Benighted to the status of hope of the French Brutal Death scene (with the Kronos and other 7th Nemesis). After many dates, including the Fury Fest or the Nuclear Festival, Benighted returned to the studio and recorded his fourth most accomplished album: Identisick . In January 2007, Benighted joined Osmose Productions for his fifth album Icon, released in October of the same year. The following year, the band took a place at Hellfest. In 2011, the band signed with the label Season Of Mist and released its new album, entitled Asylum Cave . On February 14, 2014, the band released Carnival Sublime , a new album composed of 11 tracks (and a bonus album of 8 tracks - covers, live and demo - for the special edition). In 2015 it was a live release, Brutalive The Sick, recorded at the Sylak Open Air festival in 2014. At the end of 2015, the band formalized the departure of its drummer, Kevin Foley, who also played with Abbat. With a slightly modified line-up, butchers return in 2017 with Necrobreed , a wild and direct album. A great and beautiful tour across France and Europe takes place during the same year before returning with Obscene Repressed in 2020.
