Bigwig
Biography
Formed in 1995 by two former buddies (Tom and Dan) who meet in New Jersey, Bigwig composes for 2 years despite numerous departures and replacements. Two EPs are coming out and the band is starting to get him talking in the New Jersey area. It was originally signed by Fueled By Ramen and later by Fearless Records, released in 1997 Unmerry melodies, a good punk rock album. With this sumptuous cake, Bigwig quickly makes himself known and turns across all the USA and Canada alongside Pennywise, Gob, 30 Foot Fall, Discount ... After a dispute with Fearless, Bigwig signed on another renowned punk rock school: Kung Fu Records (Wandren Fitzgerald's label, Joe Escalante des Vandals) which put on the business Stay Asleep in August 1999. The tone of the album is more hardcore than on Unmerry Melodies. After new and many changes of line up, Max, the group's ex roadie is engaged as bassist (he recently left the group in early summer 2001 to become roadie of Sum 41 ndlr). Anyway, after a mess not possible, a return to Fearless Records, a restructuring of the band with a new bass player... and tours with No Use For A Name, Gob and Anti-Flag plus the dates of the Vans Warped This summer, Bigwig just released this Invitation to Tragedy on September 18. This album confirms the new hardcore punk style of combo. Two members of the band just broke and were immediately replaced and Bigwig did not cancel his scheduled tour with the skacore The Suicide Machines and the hardcore Ensign. Decidingly, with Bigwig it's the summer saga all year round!
