Bill Callahan
Biography
Bill Callahan was born in 1966, Maryland. Learning the guitar on the job, he spent his first years experimenting and hacking his melodies on a 4 tracks in his garage. His first instrumental pieces make the part beautiful to the bankal ritournelles and a lo-fi atmosphere chosen more out of necessity than anything else. Only when he signs with Drag City will he start recording in a real studio. Since 1993, under the name of Smog, he has worked with Jim O'Rourke and John McEntire ( Tortoise) for his first albums. Adding his words to simple structures, played in loops, Callahan enriches his work with a lyrical content, with a dark and desperate humoir and which tends to make the interpretation of his songs difficult. It was in 2007 that he released his first album under his surname, Woke on A Whaleheart . His third album, Apocalypse , was released in 2011.
