Biography
Rob Pennington - singing Evan Patterson - guitar Ryan Patterson - guitar Nick Thieneman - bass Forrest Kuhn - drums
Formed in Louisville in 2001 under the name Black Widows, the line up at that time consists of Rob Pennington (song, ex-By The Grace Of God, Endpoint), Ryan Patterson (guitar, ex-National Acrobat, Automatic), Evan Patterson (bass, ex-National Acrobat), and Thommy Browne ( By The Grace Of God, Automatic). The band recorded a first ep for Initial Records, entitled Stop A Beating Heart, joining Equal Vision in the wake, but was forced to change their surname due to the large number of formations that had opted for Black Widows. Black Cross was born. At the end of 2002, Black Cross entered the studio with producer J.Robbins to record Art Offensive, the first full length. Released in 2003, the band gets a lot of success and starts on the roads with Give Up The Ghost, The Hope Conspiracy, Thursday, These Arms Are Snakes among many others. Quickly, line-up changes, other group members' trainings and family responsibilities take over on Black Cross, which becomes side-project. Thommy Browne left the band to devote herself to her family. He was replaced by Sean Johnson, then Matt Jaha. Evan form Breather Resist and Ryan, Coliseum. Except Sink, Knives & Chrome ep, released in 2005, Black Cross appears inactive. Not for long. In the year, a new line up begins to write new compositions. Evan moves from bass to guitar and a new bass player, Nick Thieneman (Young Widows) makes his appearance. The band was joined by Forrest Kuhn (Sunspring , Halifax Pier ) to the drummer and the adventure started again in January 2006.
A year later, Black Cross entered the studio with Chris Owens to record the much awaited second opus, Severance Pays .
