Black Mountain

Other project by Stephen McBean (from Pink Mountaintops ) Black Mountain was founded in 2004 under the Black Mountain Army collective. The five Canadians (whose first steps were made under the name Jerk With A Bomb) play music highly influenced by the late 60's / early 70's period; Led Zeppelin of course but also The Velvet Underground and the whole space rock / psyched wave see the German wave of Krautrock. In 2004 the first recordings of the band were released, the EP Druganaut was released on Jagjaguwar (Okkervil River, Pink Mountaintops, Swan Lake, Richard Youngs, The Besnard Lakes). A year later the band released an eponymous album that will make them notice from the rock milieu, their influences in the middle of revival 70's fly. In 2008 the band returned with In The Future (we had already heard an excerpt on Spiderman's BO 3), more psyched than these previous ones the band managed to rise to 72nd place of the English charts.
