
Blackbriar
Biography
Blackbriar is a group of Metal Gothic from the Netherlands, founded in 2012. The themes and music of the formation are mainly based on Gothic imagery, fairy tales and other dark legends. Blackbriar is distinguished in particular by the voice of its vocalist, Zora Cock (Chant), who proposes a song Pop / Folk / Goth by essence itself, by the particular melodies highlighted. Surrounded by Frank Akkerman (Basse), René Boxem (Battery), Bart Winters (Guitare) and René Sempel (Guitare), the band released some singles before reorganizing itself with the arrival of Robin Koezen who replaced René Sempel on guitar. Three eps will succeed each other: Fractured Fairytales , We'd Rather Burn and Our Mortal Remains in 2017, 2018 and 2019 that are self-produced. The band played alongside Epica , Halestorm and In This Moment in 2019. As a result, Ruben Wijga (Claviers) completed the training and Blackbriar released his first album with six musicians.ne.s, The Cause Of Sphipwreck in 2021 which was very well received by critics and fans. Until then independent, the Dutch signed with Nuclear Blast Records in 2022 and Siebe Sol Sijpkens (Basse) replaced Frank in the same period of time. This is how they released their second opus, A Dark Euphony, in September 2023.
