Blind Guardian
Biography
The late 1980s in Germany appeared a number of Speed Metal bands including Helloween , Grave Digger and many others. First of all under the name of Lucifer's Heritage, the group led by Hansi Kürsch (Basse / Chant) from Krefeld, will quickly change its name to Blind Guardian in 1986. The musician surrounded himself with André Olbrich (Guitare), Marcus Siepen (Guitare) and Thomen Stauch (Batterie) and then released their first album in 1988, Battalions Of Fear followed by Follow The Blind in 1989 via No Remorse Records, which ranked as good Speed albums of the time with some anthems at their credit. Blind Guardian then released the album Tales From The Twilight World where the band left its Speed Metal / Power to move towards a style that was his own: more symphonic, a little less fast, but still as epic, with choruses and Hansi Kürsh's path improving over the years. The 1992 album of recognition follows Somewhere Far Beyond , signed by Major Virgin Records. It's the album where Blind Guardian managed to pose his art that then improves with Imagination From The Other Side in 1995 and The Forgotten Tales in 1996, a record of alternate covers and versions including Queen, Beach Boys and Mike Oldfield. In 1998, Blind Guardian was at the top of his art and released the most worked album from all his discography. Hard has grasped at the beginning and completely revolved around the work of J.R.R Tolkien, many regard it as the masterpiece of the formation, bringing together all the fans of Speed, Heavy, Power and Metal Symphony: Nightfall In Middle Earth. Hansi also abandoned the bass to devote himself to singing, and was replaced on studio albums by Oliver Holzwarth. The group's future efforts fail to reach such a level. A Night At The Opera in 2002 pushes the symphonic side of the band even further and is also high-fly but still hard to first listen. The following year they released a live composed of many of the hymns accumulated for almost fifteen years. In 2005, it was Frederik Ehmke ( Sinbreed ) who replaced Thomas behind the drums for the release of A Twist In The Myth in 2006, this time signed by Nuclear Blast Records. More direct and less symphonic, Blind Guardian returns to the sources with faster and more efficient music. At The Edge Of Time and Beyond The Red Mirror released in 2010 and 2015 are also successes for the band whose audience does not disappoint at each of their concerts.
