Bloodbath
Biography
Bloodbath was born in 1999 from the desire of four of the most talented and prolific musicians in the Swedish metal scene to pay tribute to the American Death Metal so alive a decade ago. Mikael Akerfeldt ( Opeth ) singing, Dan Swanö ( Edge Of Sanity , Infestdead , Diabolical Masquerade etc.) drums, Jonas "Lord Seth" Renkse ( Katatonia ) bass and Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström ( Katatonia , Diabolical Masquerade ) guitar, with such talented debauchery, hard to fail. A first ep of 3 tracks, Breaking Death , was released in 2000 and so excited that the band decided to continue the experience with an album. It will be Resurrection Through Carnage in 2002, where the band displays a Death Metal old school of the most beautiful effect, Akerfeldt dropping his most beautiful growl voice throughout songs with simple and direct lyrics. Gore, death, supernatural, violence and hatred, it's all there. Unfortunately, the singer launched in ambitious sessions with his original band leading to the diptych Damnation / Deliverance, decides to leave Bloodbath to devote himself even more seriously to Opeth.
It is then thought that it is over what the press and fans call all-star band, and yet in 2004 the three survivors debaucher Peter Tägtgren singer of Hypocrisy and Pain in particular and Martin "Axe" Axenrot ( Witchery , Satanic Slaughter ) to the drums, Swanö passing second guitarist. The result, Nightmares Made Flesh , in 2004, death album much more varied than its predecessor and superb success. Tägtgren unfortunately left the band shortly after, following traditional musical differences. Nevertheless, the group performed its first and supposed last concert with Mikael Akerfeldt on 5 August 2005 at the Wacken Open Air in Germany. A DVD was released in 2008 to capture this performance. In 2008, they returned with an ep, Unblessing The Purity , and a new album, The Fathomless Mastery , which saw Akerfeldt return to singing. Bloodbath plunges into silence, except for the release of a live, Bloodbath Over Bloodstock in 2011, nothing is to be reported until 2014 with the return of the Swedes to the foreground and a new singer. If the secret remains well kept, we soon learn that it is Nick Holmes from Paradise Lost who takes the microphone. Despite a certain scepticism when Grand Morbid Funeral was published at the end of 2014 it was quickly dissipated. It's the total bluff, empate Holmes and Bloodbath all over the world with this cold and powerful realization. A big tour is made, this one obviously goes through Hellfest 2015.
