Body Count
Biography
Body Count formed in Los Angeles in 1990 around rapper Ice-T. The latter, then very little known actor, had already released a pair of albums under his own name, including a song that will give the name of his next band, Body Count. The first combo, then composed of Ice-T, Ernie-C, D-Roc, Mooseman and Beatmaster-V, invaded the bins in 1992 under the name of Cop Killer. Quickly removed from the sale, it comes out as Body Count , with a slight change in tracklisting ( Body Count is replaced by Freedom of Speech , collaboration with Jello Biafra).
Two years later, Born Dead broke out while Mooseman left the band, replaced by Griz. Darker and more aggressive, the album stands in line with its predecessor: the themes addressed are always racism and police blunders. The year before the release of the 3rd opus, 1996, Beatmaster-V died of leukemia (replaced by OT). Violent Demise: The Last Days, whose recording was completed during the tragic event, sees Griz's departure. It was then Mooseman's turn to die during a shooting in 2001, when the musician then played for Iggy Pop.
The tours followed each other, but Body Count's destiny was still so dark: D-Roc was taken away by a lymphoma in 2004 while the band announced an album shortly. It will take until 2006 for Murder For Hire to be born, with Vincent Price on bass and Bendrix Williams on guitar. September 2009, B.C. takes part in the fifteenth anniversary of the Vans Warped Tour at the Nokia Club in Los Angeles. The band played a 20-minute set, with Slayer covers, and concluded with the very controversial Cop Killer. Mike Sullivan of ExploreMusic manages to meet Ernie C of the Vans Warped Tour. Ernie C briefly discloses the recording of a fifth album. Body Count writes an exclusive song, The Gears of War, for the Gears of War video game. December 2012, Ice-T announces the production of a fifth album. On May 10, 2013, Ice-T gave the title of the opus, Manslaughter , released in June 2014 by the single Talk Shit Get Shot whose clip is a sort of short film. Very well received the album is a real concentrate of what B.C. can do, mixing a Hardcore trendy Metal with violent lyrics, no wood tongue and singing that sometimes shoots on Rap.
Ice-T, while continuing his musical career, did not stay away from the cameras since he played in various films (Gangland , Johnny Mnemonic ) and especially in TV series (Players, the Masters of the Game and New York Special Unit for 7 years). Musically, Body Count oscillates between fusion, rapcore and hardcore punk.
