Biography

In 1991 in Melbourne, Australia, a band released its first album under the name of Damnation (Cameron Baines: chant/guitare, Ben Petterson: guitar, Grant Relf: bass and Charles Zerafa; drums). A second will follow immediately after and then the band will change its name to Helium and release a demo and album in 1993. The following year, the combo will evolve with the same line up and the name Bodyjar. For their first album (Take A Look Inside ), the Australians will rent the services of Bill Stevenson and Stefan Egerton ( All / Descendants ) directly, which will allow them to play immediately at a high level. Burning Heart Records will not be wrong and will release the band's albums and singles until 1999. Some time after the release of this first opus, Zerafa left the band and was replaced by Ross Hetherington behind the drums. With Rimshot! and especially No Touch Red, the band gained a clear popularity in the United States, Europe, Asia and of course in their native Australia. International tours follow together with NOFX , Offspring , Blink 182 or Face To Face ... can be a little too much for Ben Petterson who chooses to stop the adventure, he will soon be replaced by Tom Read.
2000 marks the band's passage on a major since Capitol/EMI has been the band's label since How It Works (Nitro Records (label of Dexter Holland, frontman of The Offspring) will release the record in the United States). From then on, the popularity of the quartet decreases at the same time as the enthusiasm for melodic punk rock. Plastic Skies released in 2002 and 2003 the best of CD/DVD Jarchives marks Bodyjar's 10 years of existence. August 2004: Ross makes the dificile decision to pursue a "normal life" and Shane Wakker (20 years old) takes over the chopsticks. Another separation that leaves traces a few months later: Bodyjar and EMI take different paths, it is the Australian label Shock Records that resumes the quartet under its wing for the release of an eponymous album on September 12, 2005, three years after the release of Plastic Skies .
