Biography

Behind Bon Iver's pseudonym is Justin Vernon, an American songwriter landed from Wisconsin. It was after a period of personal isolation and a four-month stay in a lost cabin that his first album, For Emma, Forever Ago (2007), was released, dedicated to his ex-girlfriend, a disc of pure folk with melancholic religious almbiance. Signed at Jagjaguwar (Dinosaur Jr , Oneida , Okkervil River ) the following year, Vernon saw his record re-edited and benefited from a wider distribution (especially through 4AD in Europe).
An EP, Blood Bank, follows this first effort in 2008 before Vernon announced that he would pause this project, the time for him to devote himself to his new band, Volcano Choir, formed by the meeting of Bon Iver and Collections of Colonies of Bees.
