Boy In Static is the musical project of a single man, a graphic artist who is more than Alexander Chen. Born in New Jersey in '81, he began learning music by piano from the age of 5. He then chained on the violin in the elementary course, as for the rest of the instruments, this falls within the domain of self-taughtness. At the end of high school, after settling in Boston, Chen recorded a first 3-track demo, for which he played 15 instruments, and sent Outre-Atlantique to the band of which he was an unconditional fan: The Notwist. The latter, on a date in Boston, will meet the instigator of the BIS project, which finally signs a contract with the German label: Alien Transistor ( Fog , Saroos , , ...). And that's when 2004 saw the edition of his first long-lasting effort, put in a box at Abbey Road, and titled Newborn. The following year, he set out on the roads of Europe and America with collective 13 & God, including The Notwist and Anticon's Themseves), a tour that allowed him to present a full band for live sessions. Finally, after working in 2006 on Violet , his second album, Boy In Static spells him on May 29, 2007 via Mush Records ( Busdriver , Lulu Mushi , ...).
