With head full projects and naive convictions about group life, Boy Sets Fire recorded in 1995, and after 2 minimalist demos, a 7" self-produced, Insider . When labels appear unsuccessful, the quintet rents a van and leaves on the road. The indie label Magic Bullet Records will finally agree to release EP This Crying, this Screaming, my Voice Is Being Born. For their first album, it was Initial Records that showed his enthusiasm and released The Day the Sun Went Out (1997) and in the wake of EP In Chrysalis (1998). Then it's the split period: Equal Vision releases the 10" Boysetsfire / Snappase and Hydrahead the EP Boysetsfire / Coalesce . A 7" split with Shai Hulud is also created in a very limited edition via Undecided Records (both bands split with a recovery of Metallica).
Then BSF signed a contract with Victory Records which will release its major album After the Eulogy in 2000 (Darrell Hyde was evicted from the band for Rob Avery before the recording sessions). A European tour follows the release of the opus and in 2001 BSF is again on the Continent, on the display of the Deconstruction Tour.
2002, new label change and first time on a major since the quintet includes Wind-Up Records. Live EP Live for Today will act as a test and in 2003 Tommorow Come Today arrives at the big stores. Shortly after his release, Avery left the band (Rob Ehrenbrand is still on the bass). 2004 will be marked for the group by the silence and problems with Wind-Up, not very satisfied with the political commitment of the group (notably against the Republicans (their president in the lead) and the number of religious movements that Tomorrow... had painted in vitriol) and his lack of 'single' productivity.
It is therefore quite natural that in 2005, after a visit to Europe via the Deconstruction Tour, BSF left the firm and signed a double contract: with Equal Vision in America and Burning Heart in Europe. EVR released Before the Eulogy (collection of rarity, b-sides etc. including the first 2 demos mentioned above) on November 1 and the new album The Misery Index; Notes From The Plague Years is expected on 27 February 2006 (in Europe).
