Biography

Jesse Lacey : Singer / Guitarist Brian Lane : Wine drummer Accardi : Guitarist Garnett Tierney : Bassist

All new? not so much, formed on the basis of the post-hardcore band The Rookie Lot, three members (Jesse Lacey, Brian Lane&Garrett Tierney) joined by Vin Accardi form the current Brand New that exists in this form unchanged for many years. After a self-produced demo of 4 tracks, and a local recognition on the Long Island scene, these natives from Merrick, New York, signed their first contract with Triple Crown Records (Northstar , The Dead Hunter ) in 2001. The first album, My Favorite Weapon , with Mike Sapone in production, is presented as a new album of Pop-Punk telling about the successes and sentimental mishaps of teenagers. It is a moderate success, but offers the opportunity for a national and international tour opening bands like Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday or Glassjaw.
2003 marks a turning point in the career of the quartet. Already heard receives a nice reception from the press, and the group is increasingly asserting itself in a booming Emo style. The songs with this time more black and thoughtful lyrics are highlighted by an alternation of calm and musical frenzy that will be perceived as the brand of the band. The careful production of Steven Haigler (Pixies , Local H , Fuel ) helps to this, the audience follows, for reward, besides the entry in the charts, a beautiful international tour in the lead this time.
After an EP, a B-side album and a long radio silence, the band resurfaced in mid 2005 to announce its signature at Interscope Records (AFI , Dredg , Jimmy Eat World ). At the end of the year it is in the studio that we find them again with Mike Sapone with the baguette (considered now as the 5th member of the band he has since added Taking Back Sunday, Straylight Run or Public Enemy to his repertoire) After almost a year of waiting, the album finally released on October 21, 2006. The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Officiate me in a more calm, laid, certainly affordable but above all undeniably mature register than his predecessors. Adolescence is now far away. Two years later Brand New announced that the band was in the middle of recording the fourth opus. And One Head Can Never Die will be the name. A few weeks later, on its official website, the now quintetrenames it in Daisy. In August 2009, "At The Bottom", first single, debunked on the air, followed a month later by the album. After a few concerts and years, Brand New announces that it will be back on a new opus, but no news leaks. It is not until August that a pre-order for a limited edition of an LP is posted online, without announcing anything more. The next day, the link returns to Science Fiction, their new album, with an immediate availability of MP3s.
