Biography
Line up : Matthew Tuck (Matt): main song / guitar Michael Padget (Padge): guitar Jason James (Jay): bass Michael Thomas (Moose): drums
Bullet For My Valentine (or BFMV or B4MV ) formed in 2003 in Wales, first of all taking over group ( Metallica, Nirvana, Limp Bizkit, ...) members will want to hang on to the success of formations like Lostprophets or Funeral For A Friend. Just before the recording of their first demo Nick Crandle (low) decides to leave the group causing the split of the band. But with the arrival of Jason 'Jay' James the band left again and changed several times ( 12 Pints of my Girlfriend's Blood , Jeff Killed John , Opportunity in Chicago then Bullet for My Valentine ). The band then signed on 20-20 Entertainment (Sony Division) for the release of a first EP, Bullet For My Valentine (on 15/11/04 in UK), produced by Colin Richardson (producer of many metal bands including Chimaira , Cannibal Corpse , Carcass , God Forbid , Sepultura , Trivium , Machine Head , Slipknot , ...) and allowed the band to become known (in particular thanks to the clip of the eponymous title Hand Of Blood ), a second EP ( Hand Of Blood ) released in the summer of 2005. Musically the band gives in the fashion style of the moment: metalcore. Very conventional and qualified to lay hits thanks to simple melodies, a dose of 'core' with heated passages the music is a mix of riff typed 80s with a heaviness it came from the 90's. The relative ease of access of their music will cause them to explode with the release of their first album (The Poison ) in October 2005, thus becoming the black beast of purists (the eternal fight 'commercial', 'mainstream', 'poser', ...). The band chained the magazine covers and even started its first leading tour (after a single album) as well as the prestigious first part (Metallica , Iron Maiden , Guns N'Roses , ...) and played three years in the Download Festival (passing from the stage discovered to the main in 3 years). At the end of 2006 the band released its first DVD (always after a single album), The Poison: Live at Brixton. Their second album, Scream Aim And Fire, was released in 2008.
