Biography
Calexico is a border town, on horseback between the United States and Mexico. So it's not surprising to find, in the music of the duo formed by Joey Burns and John Convertino - Giant Sand's elders, Latin influences mixing cumbia, mariachi and tex-mex. Since 1996, Calexico's records have been floating in the Arizona desert, often telling stories of travel and origins. The duo is inspired by the world's music and collaborations, with Sam Beam ( Iron&Wine), Douglas McCombs ( Tortoise), Neko Case ... to propose relaxing themes halfway between American country and Mexican energy.
