Caspian
Biography
Caspian is a post-Rock instrumental band formed in 2003 in Beverly, USA. Initially, the band consisted of a quartet with Philip Jamieson (Guitare / Claviers), Calvin Joss (Guitare), Chris Friedrich (Basse) and Joe Vickers (Batterie). Between 2003 and 2005 Caspian is quite discreet, realizing some dates and notably a first part of Mono . The musicians are always looking for a singer to complete the line-up, but in vain. A first ep, You Are The Conductor , is released at the end of 2005 at Dopamine Records, and the band embarks on an American tour of about 30 dates that will allow them to record Tour Ep in 2006. It was in 2007 that their first album, The Four Trees, was released at Dopamine Records and the following year at Make My Day Records. During the 2007 tour, guitarist Erin Burke-Moran, who plays on a few live dates, eventually becomes a full member. Two years later and a split with Constants in 2008, the second opus, Tertia , came out in the bins. The guitarist Jonny Ashburn assists the band during their 2009 tour alongside Red Sparowes. Many concerts take place to promote the release of the album with bands like Constants, Irepress or Moving Mountains. In 2011, Caspian announced that it was working on a third album that was finally released in 2012 under the name of Waking Season . The band then toured with Minus The Bear and Cursive. In August 2013, bassist Chris Freidrich died at the age of 32. As a catharsis against mourning, Caspian released Hymn For The Greatest Generation in November, including three exclusive tracks and three songs (remixed or demos) from Waking Season. After a tour in Australia and Asia in 2014, the band returned with Dust And Disquiet , still signed by Triple Crown Records. Then it's radio silence. Joe Vickers was replaced by Justin Forrest in 2019 before Caspian released his fifth opus, On Circles , early 2020.
