Originally from Seattle (Washington), Champion , hardcore straight edge formation, was born in the spring of 1999 under the leadership of Jim Hesketh and Chris Williams, respectively singer and guitarist. At first, the goal is to have a good time but after a few months and some promising concerts, the band decided to move to a higher speed by recording a first demo followed by a small West Coast tour. Although Champion is being echoed more than positive in the hardcore world, the group is undermined by recurring line up problems that slow down its margin of progression. The training managed to record its first ep Come Out Swinging in 2000 on the Phyte Records label. Soon after, Champion signed on the Boston Bridge Nine Records label at which he released his second ep, Count Our Numbers, giving him the opportunity to tour with prestigious bands such as Sick of it All or Terror. At the end of 2004, the band recorded its first album, Promises Kept . He is extremely well received and Champion becomes one of the leading figures of the hardcore straight edge movement. In April 2005, Bridge Nine Records reissued the two epeps previously produced by regrouping them on an opus entitled Time Slips Away. The group will spend the year on the roads that will lead it to Korea. He toured with 7 Seconds , Agnostic Front , Death Before Dishonor , Have Heart , Blue Monday , No Turning Back among others, and participated in the Posi Fest in July. Champion then recorded a three-track split with Betrayed , released at Rivalry Records in January 2006. But it was at the end of the same month that the band announced its separation, due to a fatigue of the tours. The last show of this leading band takes place in Seattle, El Corazon, on May 27, with The Answer, Sinking Ships (where Danny Hesketh, Jim's younger brother), Allegiance and Outbreak. Aram Arslanian (as a singer) and Todd Preboski (who had replaced Brandon Wallace with the drums) continue for a while the adventure within Betrayed. Aram is also guitarist in The Vows.
