Chelsea Grin
Biography
Deathcore Chelsea Grin was founded in 2007 in Salt Lake City, Utah by Michael Stafford (Guitare), Chris Kilbourn (Guitare), Andrew Carlston (Battery), Austin Marticorena (Basse) and Alex Koehler (Chant). The musicians choose this name with reference to the act of torture called Glasgow Smile or Chelsea Grin. The band began with an eponymous one in 2008, but in 2009 all members except Alex and Michael decided to abandon the project. Alex recruited David Pugh (Basse), Jacob Harmond (Guitare), Daniel Jones (Guitare) and Kory Shilling (Batterie). Davis Pugh did not stay very long in his post (replaced by David Flinn) and Andre Carlson finally decided to return behind the drums. Under a line-up now stabilized, Chelsea Grin is filming in Canada with The Agonist , A Plea For Purging and Arsonists Get All The Girls , and signing a deal with the label Artery Recordings to produce their first album, Desolation Of Eden , which appeared in 2010. In September, the Americans toured alongside Iwrestledabearonce, Eyes Set To Kill, The Chariot and Vanna. Chelsea Grin followed very quickly with a second opus in 2011, My Damnation, in which Phil Bozeman, Whitechapel's singer, appeared on the song All Hil The Fallen King. The band then toured with Emmure and Attila for the All Stars Tour. Michael Stafford left the band at the end of 2011 and was replaced by Jason Richardson ( Born Of Osiris). Chelsea Grin released in 2012 a new ep, Evolve , containing slightly musically reoriented tracks, notably Lilith which contains parts of clear singing.
