Choke comes from Canada, Alberta, Edmonton specifically. The band formed in March 1994 and recorded its first self-produced Lotion CD which sold more than 1000 copies. He quickly made a reputation on stage and drew the attention of the Canadian label Smallman Records, which would take him under his wing shortly after the release of Give'er, which was already more 'professional'. Smallman is therefore convinced by Choke and adopts them. From there, Choke enjoys a slightly less modest reputation by releasing the excellent ultra fast and original melodic punk rock album Needless To Say in January '98 which is followed by concerts with Good Riddance, Bad Religion or No Use For A Name. In September '99, Canadians hit another big hit with Foreword. Despite 2 absolutely fabulous albums and new tours with Strung Out and Mad Caddies , Choke does not know a success to match the quality of his music but the 4 members of the combo seem to be content with it without constantly wanting to reach a wider audience. The adventure continues quietly until April 2002 and There's A Story To This Moral. The band gave almost no sign of life for 3 years and reappeared with a new slow Fade Or: How I Learned To Question Infinity that was released on March 22, 2005.
Choke remains faithful to Smallman Records and has never changed line-up during 13 years of music they may announce on April 05, 2007 that they are separating. A farewell tour of Canada will take place in May/June of the same year.
