Biography

Circus Maximus was founded in Norway in 2000 by Mickael Eriksen (song), Glen Mollen (bass), Espen Storo (claviers), Truls Haugen (battery) and his brother Mats Haugen (guitar). Together, they released in 2005 The 1st Chapter, a complex and virtuoso progressive metal album, in the vein of their main influences: Symphony X and Dream Theater. This first album is considered one of the most technically accomplished of 2005. But shortly after the release of The 1st Chapter, the keyboardist decided to leave the band and was replaced by Lasse Finbraten. Isolate was released in 2007. A little more accessible than its predecessor thanks to its less long and often structured tracks, it remains in the same vein. Its atmosphere is also more dark and mature. The Norwegians began the composition of their third effort from the end of 2008 onwards, with a planned release at the end of 2010. Finally, Nine will not be born until mid-2012. The album surprises her musical direction, which according to the band's terms is "more dynamic and more melodic". The Metal component moves a little back to incorporate a more Rock side. Havoc comes out in March 2016 and continues in this voice.
