Cirith Ungol
Biography
Cirith Ungol, or Passe de l'Araignée, is the passage taken by Frodo and Sam to join the Mordor. It is also an American Heavy Metal band founded in 1972 in California by bassist Greg Lindstrom, drummer Robert Garven and guitarist Jerry Fogle. The singer Neal Beattie was recruited in 1975, but only took part in a few concerts before being replaced in 1976 by Tim Baker, who was better suited to the combo style. Two demos were created in 1979, Cirith Ungol and The Orange Album. In 1980 Lindstrom gave up bass for guitar; He will also handle the keyboards. Then came bassist Michael "Flint" Vujejia. Cirith Ungol released three albums in this form: Frost And Fire in 1981, King Of The Dead in 1984, and One Foot In Hell in 1986. The guitarist and founding member Jerry Fogle left the band in 1987, and the bassist a few months later; they are replaced respectively by Jim Barraza and Vernon Green. A final album was released in 1991: Paradise Lost. The last concert was performed at the end of the same year, and the separation was formalized in 1992. Note that Servants Of Chaos , released in 2001, is not an album but a compilation of demos and live recordings. Greg Lindstrom founded Falcon in 2002, with which he released two albums, but apart from that, we no longer hear about the members of Cirith Ungol before a reformation took place in 2016, with the same guitarists, singer and drummer, and bassist Jarvis Leatherby ( Night Demon ). They perform at various festivals, especially during 2017. Then in 2018 the single Witch's Game appeared, the band's first recording since 1991, composed for the animated film The Planet Of Doom.
