Codeseven formed in '95 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on the initiative of the Tuttle brothers. The band released a first non-official album, Paper Or Plastic (1996), on Huel Records, which shows a priori their interest in Death Metal and bands such as Napalm Death and Fear Factory. Finally, their first real album, A Sense Of Coalition , was released in 1998 on the label Music Cartel; The formation is especially noticed through its cover, at the end of the record, of Don Henley's "The Boys Of Summer". A year later, Codeseven unveils its second (third?) long-term effort, Division Of Labor , produced in part by Kurt Ballou (Converge ), still in a post-hardcoating vein, before flying, as well as co-singer David Owen, towards other horizons by starting a more atmospheric turn on The Rescue (2002). This last production, directed by Alex Newport ( At the Drive-In , Will Haven , The Melvins ) then titillates the ears of Equal Vision Records ( Coheed And Cambria , The Snake The Cross the Crown , ...) which signs the quintet before publishing its fourth (fifth?) album, in any case last effort as of the band's date, Dancing Echoes/Dead Sounds , before its separation for financial reasons. During this decade of existence, Codeseven will share the poster with BoySetsFire, Saves the Day, Poison The Well or Avail, the members, with the exception of the singer, found themselves in a new project called Telescreen.
