Biography
Ryan Patterson - guitar, singing Carter Wilson - drums Mike Pascal - bass
It was after one of the many offs that can intervene in life that Black Cross guitarist Ryan Patterson founded Coliseum in Louisville in 2004. Bearing in mind to make music combining the destructive force of the crust british with the traditional hardcore punk of DC as well as the metal, he surrounds himself with his cousin Matt Jaha (battery) and his friends Keith Bryant (bass) and Tony Ash (guitar), and locks himself in his garage to give birth to the band's first production. Recorded under the leadership of Jason Lowenstein, a former Sebadoh , it was published as a split by Level-Plane Records in June 2004, with the second half of the skeud devolved to Lords , another Louisville formation. After more than a hundred shows in eight months, during which Coliseum played with Cursed , Hot Cross , Breather Resist and Lickgoldensky , among others, Keith Bryant was replaced by Mike Pascal. The band entered the studio at the end of 2004 to record the monstrous Goddamage, still under the direction of Lowenstein. Originally released by Manic Ride Records in 2005, the mini album was later featured on Patterson's own label, Auxiliary Records. Coliseum then returned to the roads throughout the year, with more than 120 concerts alongside bands such as From Ashes Rise, Kylesa, Buried Inside or Torche. The year 2006 saw the departure of Tony Ash, leaving the band in the form of a trio. Coliseum then recorded a split in the company of Doomriders, titled Not of This World, where each band took over pieces of Danzig. Louisville's band then embarked on a European tour with Lords, after which the first songs of the new album, No Salvation, was released by Relapse in 2007. After the replacement of Chris Maggio by Carter Wilson, Coliseum joined the roster of Temporary Residence.
